Prior to qualifying as a nurse in 1999 from Chesterfield Royal I worked in an office whilst studying part time to gain a BSc (Hons) with the Open University.
Post Nursing qualification I worked on the wards for 2 years before moving onto the community. I worked for 3 years as a Nurse in inner city Nottingham, then 4 years as a practice nurse in Loughborough and the last part of my career has been as a staff nurse in parts of Derby. This has given me a extensive experience in working with people in their own homes with a variety of issues.
During the last few years I have needed support myself to try to relax and manage stress. On recommendation I tried Reflexology. It has been an enormous help and support, helping me to relax. The benefits for me have included improved sleep quality, feeling less stressed, reduction of headaches and muscle tension, improving mood and a better sense of well-being.
Due to my positive experience I have trained to become a Qualified Reflexologist. The course took a year to complete and included over 100 practice hours. The course content included anatomy and physiology; theory of Reflexology and the practice of Reflexology. Also included was an overview of other complementary therapies. I successfully completed the course in March 2016 and became a full Member of the Association of Reflexologists. Footsteps Towards Tranquility was foundedĀ in April 2016, with me seeing clients in my treatment room and as a mobile therapist.
By training and qualifying as a Reflexology Therapist my aim of being able to share the benefits I experienced myself have been realised.
